Oh my gheeeerd, if there was ever a definition of time sink, than this would be it! This little bastard took a long, LONG time to do, but was it worth it? I should hope so! Even better, it comes in a snazzy wallpaper dimension! Whoooo!
Some of you may recognize this picture as the first panel for comic 46 but with one big difference; no Charlotte! The biggest reason for removing her from this pic is she isn’t a big player. I want the “Everyday” homage pictures to be the main four, or all the cast, if I can. I love Charlotte, but her place wasn’t in this picture, just the comic and other pictures built for her. So, moving on!
This picture has been something I’ve been planning on for ages, and finally gotten around to doing. It was originally supposed to be colored and inked for the comic, but the sheer mind bending amount of time to do so, on top of the comic…yeah, that wasn’t going to happen. So I decided to make it a separate piece, and go all out with the shading. Each base color has 2 highlights, and 2-3 shadows. Now, given that there are a LOT of colors in this piece…I am sure you can imagine how long it took to cell shade these fiends
As a further challenge, I tried to break out of my primary colors bonds, and go more pastel. Each color has a LOT of purple/blue mixed in, and is of a much lighter hue than I normally use. Pupils were added. Line width was used a lot more here. A background that isn’t a cheap gradient was necessary. This was pretty much a picture to make me stop cutting corners in color and design, and hopefully build some good habits. My only hope is that when I click the submit button, there won’t be several glaring mistakes that I failed to see.
Eh, who am I kidding. That always happens anyways
